Holly Ball 2024
The Cancer League celebrated their 51st annual Holly Ball on Friday, December 6th at Claremont Country Club. The event, chaired by Janet Nunan, was attended by 135 generous supporters who came together to raise over $300,000. These monies will be used to fund numerous “Seed-Stage” grants, focused on breakthrough cancer research and treatments.
Flickering candles adorned surfaces covered in red tablecloths and opulent greenery. The guests sparkled in their red evening gowns and black tie. Delicious food and excellent wines donated by local businesses and wineries created a warm and elegant atmosphere. The Raise the Paddle event at evening’s close cemented a successful night of fundraising. As guests moved into the Lounge to dance, Chair Janet Nunan commented, “What a joyous night to celebrate the kindness of our guests who loyally support us every year in this quest to fund cancer research!”
Holly Ball has helped the group raise over $7million dollars in its 51 years. The mission of The Cancer League is to support accredited non-profit organizations dedicated to the fight against cancer.

The Cancer League is a San Francisco Bay Area nonprofit that funds groundbreaking cancer research at its early stages. Since our inception in 1973, we have raised and donated over $7 million toward the fight against cancer. We have an average yearly allocations budget of over $300,000 and our average grant size is between $10,000-50,000. Our work takes on a special significance given that each of our members has coped with cancer either personally, within their family, or in their circle of friends. The Cancer League is a charitable 501 (c)(3) organization.
