Spring Soirée 2024.

A Beautiful Event and a Successful Fundraiser for Cancer Research
On April 25, the Cancer League hosted its 9th annual Spring Soirée event at the Claremont Country Club. The “shopping for survivorship” event raised an estimated $150,000 for ground-breaking cancer research, thanks to generous sponsors, attendees, in-kind donors, and vendors that donated 25% of their proceeds from the evening’s sales.
The venue was transformed into a delightful garden party of ginger jars filled with bright flowers by Olive+Grace Stems, brightly colored paper lanterns, and oversized balloons, filling the space with vibrant color and fun. Over 200 guests enjoyed a light buffet dinner and sweets from Sprinkles and Miette. VIP attendees also received amazing shopping totes filled with donations from Ariel Gordon, Eleni’s New York, Salty Sisters Cookies, Sourced Home, Studio Shoshin, and Zazzle. Napa Valley wines were served thanks to donors Longfellow Winery and Keenan Winery. Event chairs April Gruber Shalev and Sasha Bainer and their outstanding committees pulled off a record-breaking fundraising event and will continue as co-chairs for the Spring Soiree 2025.
“I’m grateful to see our community show up with such generosity for this important cause,” said April Gruber Shalev, event co-chair. “Cancer touches all of our lives, which is why we are honored to support early-stage, cutting-edge cancer research that truly impacts treatment and patient therapies.”
The Dan & Stacey Case Family Foundation sponsored the event, along with the Butch Haze Group and the Gruber Family. Additional sponsors included AG Design Studio, Ann Newton Cane Realty, Jennifer Griffith Wayland, the Kalamas Family, Karen Ellis, Lisa Settlemier, Sasha Bainer, and Savus, Inc.
“Our sponsors and in-kind donors are the anchor of this event,” said Cancer League President Lisa Settlemier. ”Their unwavering commitment enabled us to host a beautiful and successful night of sipping and shopping for survivorship.” Settlemier also added that this year’s Soiree was even more special as the league launched sales of its 50th Anniversary cookbook, Sips and Bites.
The Cancer League is thankful to the vendors, sponsors, in-kind donors, and attendees for making this year’s Spring Soirée a huge success and looks forward to its signature holiday event, The Holly Ball, on December 6th, 2024.
